Michigan Congressional Election 2014 Political Courage Test

Pro-life Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I believe the Government should not encourage abortion through any means. I feel there should be exemption for rape/incest. Abortions should only be allowed in the first trimester.
Yes In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
No In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Income tax as we have it today is a tax on our labor, thus enslavement of the individual and that is wrong. There are other methods of raising funds as this country relied on for the first 130 so years without an income tax.
No Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
I believe only individual human citizens of the u.S.A. should be able to make campaign donations with full and open disclosure so each voter may decide for themselves if a candidate is 'bought' or not. Unfortunately the supreme Court has opened it up to others.
Yes Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
very few.
No Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support lowering taxes as a way of promoting growth in the economy?
No Do you support providing tax incentives to businesses for the purpose of job creation?
I prefer tax cuts evenly applied. No government body playing favorites or descriminating against any business.
No Do you support requiring states to implement education reforms in order to be eligible for competitive federal grants?
Return education back to local control. Parents lost much control when our federal central government sends down mandates in the form of 'strings attach' funding. Return control by first not sending the money to be laundered through Washington and keep the money in the communities to wholly be spent in the manner the local parents find best for their children.
Yes Do you support building the Keystone XL pipeline?
No Do you support reducing restrictions on offshore energy production?
Just enough to reasonably protect the environment
No Do you believe that human activity is contributing to climate change?
No Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
No Do you support restrictions on the purchase and possession of guns?
Restrictions only on mentally ill and violent felonies.
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act?
Every where there has been social medical coverage there has been rationing in the long run. We already see hints of it in the ACA, whether it is limited access to supply doctors or required to travel a good distance to see a doctor, it is a form of rationing. The free market, while not perfect, has ALWAYS PROVED to provide the best care to the largest population.
Yes Do you support requiring illegal immigrants to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
Make it much easier but do it with rule of law. We must protect our current citizens from criminals, terrorists, and people with communicable medical conditions. The current policy is in effect not having a border and the protections that go with it, thus we don't have a country. I would push to make it much easier to immigrate to the U.S.A. with protection to our current citizens but take away the welfare magnet that attracts the "takers" but gratefully accept the "makers".
Yes Do you support same-sex marriage?
I believe in marriage equality.
Yes Do you support targeting suspected terrorists outside of official theaters of conflict?
Should the U.S use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the United States from possessing a nuclear weapon?
The Democrats and Republicians have put off building a proper missile defense system that would allow us to bring our troops home to defend our homeland and borders. Surgical strikes outside of our country when appropriate.
Yes Do you support allowing individuals to divert a portion of their Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts?
Better yet to replace the tax system with 100% private system. It has worked better than any government system everywhere it has been tried.

Many of these are better handle by a free market system and should not be a function of government. Eduction should be funded and controled locally. A good example is in the area of space travel and exploration, now businesses are pushing for space exploration and travel where it would have not been thought possible in the 70's, other than by libertarians.
The federal Government owns quite a bit of real estate that it will never use, especially in some of our western states. much of this could be sold or leased to cover funding. Where they do sell mineral right get market prices for those these. In some cases private organization have done a better job than the government at running, such as parks. Research of these, which operations are feasible to sell off.
